Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

We watch so few new movies that when we do, high expectations are put on that movie to meet the family's level of standard. Unfortunately, as will tend to happen, some movies just....they just...*shakes head sadly* they just can't measure up. :'(
Today, I'm going to give you a brief glimpse into one such movie that fell just a LOT short of our family standard. This such movie was Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
Okay, there are 5 different versions of RH, and the only way you can tell them apart is by saying which actor plays RH. For those of you who don't know actors, well, you're kind of sunk. Anyway, you've got Errol Flynn, Cary Elwes, Russel Crowe, and Kevin Costner. (The 5th is animated.) Now, because I watched the movie when I was a young fry, Errol Flynn is the ONE and ONLY Robin Hood. Everyone is entitled to their own oppion, yes, but if don't agree with me on this point, you're wrong. :)
So, back to this movie thing. RH: Prince of Thieves is the one with Kevin Costner, and this is the movie that we were so excited to watch. We sat down with gladness in our hearts and happiness in our souls. This was about to get nasty!

What was so wrong:
1: The Sheriff of Nottingham acted like a goofy nut. He killed his own cousin and then turned around and commanded that the servants cancel Christmas. He also took about a full minute to finally demise. Personally, I'm not a big fan of goofy bad guys. If you're gonna make him bad, give him some real umph.
2. Maid Marion was a wimp! Some might say that Oliva de Haviland (Marion in the Errol Flynn RH) is a wimp because she doesn't do much. (It was made quite a while ago.) However, Miss de Haviland never acted wimpy. This Maid Marion went around saying dumb lines, giving odd looks, and crying out for Robin every time either she or he were in danger.
3. Everybody who's watched the Errol Flynn version knows that Will Scarlett (the REAL one) is a funny guy who plays on his lute all the time. In this movie, they made him out to be around 20 with a bad grudge against RH. We learn later that the reason he distrusts Robin is that Will is his half brother, and Robin has made his life miserable. Um, hold on! Where did they get that?
4. The catapult. This was a small part in the movie yet it was a big deal. No one can climb onto a catapult, be flung over a castle wall and get up immediately and go fight some more.
5. This is the ending. I'm sorry, but every movie deserves a good ending. Even if it's a bad movie, it deserves a good ending. This one didn't get its fair share. Sean Connery cannot play King Richard.
