Nothing will ruin your morale or nock you down more, than being sick. I just went through a nasty, week long battle against sicky-ness. It was really bad and yesterday was the first day that I was on my way to health. Today is much better. I mean, I'm doing school! hahaha
I remember a long time ago when I used to enjoy being sick. I got to watch movies, skip school, eat ice cream and drink pop all the time. It was great. I wish those days would come back. Those days when I enjoyed this down time instead of bemoaning it. However, after awhile, the TV gets boring.

Don't you?
Don't you love the smell of the outside? I don't mean when the lawn mower is going or when they've just put in mulch next door. I mean, when you've been cooped in the house the whole day. You stop your school, go over and open the window, and just sniff. The smell is incredible. It's completely fresh. Sorry, but Free-breez just doesn't cut it. So, today or tomorrow, go outside and just take one big sniff. It'll make you smile!

Celtic Thunder!!
Celtic Thunder is a music group of 5 guys (and a 6th sometimes) who are all from the Celtic area. They sing half Celtic songs and half pop songs. I think they're fabulous!!!
Anywho, I went to their concert yesterday. It was fabulous!!!! I was clapping so much, my hands were raw. For those of you who know them, they sang Heartland, Take Me Home, Come by the Hills, Do Waka Do, When I Rule the World, many others, and OF COURSE.....Ireland's Call!
I had so much fun; it was unbelievable! Youtube videos just don't do them justice. :D
I love Celtic Thunder!!!!

Remembering....
How many men have died in wars since the creation of the world? I would guess we don't have enough zeros for it.
We celebrate Veteran's Day to remember all those who have served in our armies, but I think we should remember all those who ever served in any army. What each of those men and women have given for their people/country really does fit the phrase "above and beyond the call of duty."
Remember them today with honor, respect, gratitude, and pride. Thank you, Veterans!

For only $6.69...
If you haven't been to Panera Bread, you need to go now. Their food is so good!!! Their desserts aren't good, but the sandwhiches are excellent.
Yesterday, we ate dinner there. They have this special thing where you can get 2 of (half a sandwhich, half a soup, or half a salad) for only $6.69.
I almost always get this. I choose the turkey sandwhich on country bread with only tomatoes and salt and pepper. Then, I pair it with their chicken noodle soup. It's amazing!
Yes, for only $6.69 you can get a meal that's substantial, tasty, filling, yummy, not awful for you, and decent sized.

Excerpt from my Nano book (The Shield)
Light radiated from everywhere. The powerful sun that hung over the land of Lumenarium cast such brilliance, everything seemed to be burning. The serene lakes reflected every ray up hundreds of feet to the green branches of trees. The hills and fields held the light in the grass until every blade seemed to be glowing internally. The mountains that rose far in the east stood with all the prowess of torches.
Not a cloud stood in the sky today. Nothign hindered the blaze that crept into every shadow. It was just pure, unrestrained radiance that flooded the entire world. These were the best days when all the creatures came out and tried to suck up every ounce of warmth there was. These were the favorite days of Lumens.
Lumens are the people that live in Lumenarium. Their appearance, when seen from a distance, is very similar to that of humans. They have two arms and legs. Their height is average as well as their size. Each Lumen is born with fair skin, small, yellow eyes, and hair of varying shades. However, as each grows, the constant exposure to the massive sun causes two changes. The skin begins to darken and the hair begins to lighten. If a child is born with blonde hair, around the time of them reaching their 12th birthday, their hair has gone white. However, if a child is born with very dark hair, his hair will slowly lighten, but it still may remain lighter than white up into his late teens.
Lumens, aside from the physical differences, are very similar to humans. They are very social people. They choose to live in large towns, and families often have many children, though a few don't. The doors to their homes are always left open, encouraging others to come in at any time. Good will and peace circulate throughout the towns. Lumens help friends and strangers alike.
There is also a sense of mystery about Lumenarium. This unknown comes from an energy field that funs the length of the land. Flickers of yellow often run through the field like thin, lightening bolts. If anythign touches it, a loud crackle is heard, and yellow sparks fly out from the point of contact. It is ultimately impenetrable. Many Lumens have touched it and have suffered severe injuries. A few have died. What was so fascinating to the Lumens is that they could see what was on the other side. A barren, brown wasteland stretches out as far as they could see. Hills and valleys and many pits are visible, but there is no life: only cracked, brown earth, with a somewhat brown sky.
The Lumens have simply named it The Shield. They believe that a great disaster happened on their world, and the The Shield was put over their land to protect it form the devastation. Whether it is ture or not, no one has been able to prove. They simply accept the presence of The Shield as a natural barrier from the nothingness outside. There is also some fear with that acknowledgement for no one really knows what The Shield is.
Another point of mystery, that we humans would find interesting, is the fact that there is no night on Lumenarium. On account of the enormous sun that travels on par with the world, no night time is created. Lumesn sleep in normal cycles, but they have no need of darkness to sleep. They are so accustomed to the vast amount of light in every aspect of their lives that they simply sleep while the sun is up.

Guess what I did today? Me took me SAT. :D
Yes, at 6:00 this morning, my alarm BLARED in my ear. The only thought going through my mind was, "The only thing I want to do is sleep." However, my subconcious (Inception, anybody?) knew that that was not a good idea. Remembering that it was test day, I calculated in my head how long I really needed to get ready. Finally, I decided I could do it pretty fast.
After heading out the door, Mom and I made a stop at the Nook for breakfast tacos. Yummy! We then proceeded down to The Woodlands High School and passed probably 30 runners. The ones with the Miner Lights on their foreheads were the best.
There were many more kids at the school than I had imagined. I guess, I thought it would only be a handful of students who were taking this CRAZY test, this early in the morning. Turns out, I was wrong. I tell you, I have NEVER seen so many kids with such blank faces. There was no emotion. There was no sound. It was a shuffling mass of pajamas and calculators.
The classrooms all had to start at the same time, so we had to wait a good half-hour before we started. And whether that messed with me or not, my essay STUNK! I mean it was awful. I can't say what the question was, but I was very confused as to how to answer it. Plus, the construction and wording of the paragraphs was bad. However, the rest of the test seemed to go very well. I was happy with the result. I don't think I'll bomb the math section...hopefully.
The quote that seems to match this post very well is actually not from a movie. It's from the book, Cheaper by the Dozen. "When I say 'commence,' work as quickly as you can. Now, turn your test papers over and start. Remember, I'm watching you, so don't try to look at your neighbor's paper." --so true :)

The Mystery of the Blue Fingered Girl
Doesn't that sound so, not scary? Anywho, so let me tell you how this story starts. Names have been changed in order to maintain privacy. (This is NOT my Nano story.) hahaha
Nora noticed throughout the day that her fingernails looked somewhat dirty. Since she constantly washes her hands, she was greatly destressed. Still, she thought it was nothing and continued in her regular routine.
At the supper table with Katarina, The High Mogul, and the High Mogul's assistant, Nora suddenly realized her nails were not simply dirty. Her nails were BLUE as were her fingers. Alarm and panic coursed through her body. What was this new disease? Was it really so cold in the house that she had started to freeze from the inside out? Were her fingers about to fall off?!?!?!!
Frantically, she informed her table mates, that her fingers were now blue. All looked on her in bewilderment for occasionally, Nora says things of special oddity. She then displayed her hands, proving to everyone that her fingers had taken on a blue tint.
Horrified, the High Mogul asked what she'd been doing? Nora was positive that nothing she could have done could have procured such a response to her appendages. Nora also believed it was some default of the new vitamins she had been taking. Katarina had been taking these pills as well. Consequently, her fingers were examined. Nora suggested that a slight hue was on the girl, and that it might be the early stages of the Blue Virus.
"Check your toes," Katarina suggested. Nora pulled off her socks to discover, much to her relief, that her precious toes remained their natural palor. However, another revelation was revealed. Nora's socks were blue. A quizzical look spread over her face. Why were her socks blue?
Then, the High Mogul posed an interesting question to Nora. "Are you wearing your new jeans today?"
"Yes," Nora replied.
The crisis was SOLVED!!!! Dye from Nora's new jeans had seaped to her socks and spread to her fingers. Another mystery deduced.
Sleep well, everyone!

My progress
My book is going fabulously well. I've written 3,230 words of my 20,000. I've completed 1 chapter and am almost done with a second. Plus, I'm writing in a way that is new, challening for me, but still fun. It's very interesting.
I'm enjoying the whole writing process immensely. For some reason, I've all of a sudden been able to get my work done early. This gives me so much time for writing, and it's excellent! I was so worried that if I picked 20,000 words, I'd have no free time. This is not true. I've been able to do tons of different stuff. So much fun!!! I would encourage so many people to do this.
So, is anybody interested in reading an excerpt?

Nanowrimo
So, November has started, and for all of us writers, that means Nanowrimo has started. Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writer's Month. You're supposed to write a book in exactly one month. You can start as early midnight of Nov. 1st but you must be done by midnight of Dec. 1st. The official Nanowrimo requires you to write 50,000 words. The young writers program of it allows you to set your own word count goal. :) Guess which one I'm doing? No, I'm NOT doing the 50,000 one. Hahaha. Nope. This year I'm setting my word count goal at 20,000.
You see, I participated in it last year, and my word goal was 15,000. My final total was 15, 773. When you complete your book, they call you a winner! So, I won last year, and I plan to win again this year. Anyway, I will keep you up to date on my progress. I might even post snipets of what I'm writing up here. Hmmm, I'll have to think about that one.

"Button? Button? Who's got the button?"-Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
This morning, I got dressed and put on a pair of white shorts that I have. All of a sudden, I realized, the button was missing. HAHAAHA! Well, I'll need to get that fixed. Turns out, Mom had the button down stairs without knowing what it went too.
Whew, crisis solved. :)

YAY! I finally have my own blog! I'm so excited! I've been wanting my own blog for awhile now, and it's finally here!
Perhaps, I should take this time and explain the name of my blog. Recently, a friend of mine gave me the nickname, "Nut-Meg." I thought it was the coolest thing ever. You can see the pun after that.
Check in with you guys later!
