Setting the Silver

Wednesday, February 16, 2011
This was an assignment in Lit.

A job is asked of me,
Not hard, yet a full task.
I gather the silver,
Shining from its earlier polishing.
The plates are stacked.
I hold the pristine cloth and napkins with care.
---
The table's deep wood is beautiful alone,
Yet, like a lady, I will add to its beauty
With ornametns and fine things
The cloth is laid, smoothed.
China followes, appearing as many moons.
---
The napkins, crisped folds, are placed.
The silver guards each plate with rigidness
I survey my work,a pleased smile spreading.
They all lay even, room for division
Yet, equality in distance that leaves only total satisfaction.
