Fitting In

Sunday, October 14, 2012
You fold yourself up.
Pull up the sides,
And bind them with tape.
Next comes the lid.
You forcefully pull it down.

You're in the dark,
Helpless and hopeless.
Why did you do this?
What was the point?
You don't remember.

It's getting close.
It's getting hot.
You're can't breath.
Suffocation.
You have to get out now!

You push at the lid,
But you fastened it to tightly,
Trying to ensure
It would never come off.
You put yourself here.

There's very little time left
For you to save yourself.
Soon, you'll be lost
Forever in the dark,
Helpless, hopeless.

You push once more at the lid, at the walls.
It's a last effort.
One final attempt to save yourself,
To remain alive,
To remain you.

The walls are weakening.
It seems you didn't bind them
As firmly as you thought.
You can still come out of this.
You can still be free.

The tape releases.
The walls fall down.
The lid is off.
Air rushes in, up, around you.
There is light!

Freedom!
It's never felt so wonderful!
Never to be taken for granted again.
You are saved.
You are still you.
